Captain Cesario de la Garza Falcon was the son of Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon VII (1803-1872) and Jacoba Villarreal Cavazos. In 1834 Cesario’s father Blas de la Garza Falcon VII, received the Chitlipin Land Grant from the government of Mexico, which consisted of over 20,000 acres in present day Nueces and Kleberg counties in south Texas. Captain Cesario was a great great grandson of Captain Blas María de la Garza Falcón, who is considered the colonizer of South Texas in the 1700, and who has a statue dedicated to him in Corpus Christi, Texas.
In 1863, Captain Cesario enlisted in the Union Army and within a short time was made a Captain of the 1st Texas Cavalry, Company K, serving from December 15, 1863 to March 10, 1865. In 1870, Capt. Cesario became a Texas Ranger, stationed at El Olmito, Texas in Cameron County, and Llano Blanco in Starr County, Texas. Captain Cesario and his father were descendants of the original San Francisco Land Grant holder Juan Jose Manuel de la Garza Falcon and his wife Ursula Ramirez. Cesario married Rita de la Garza Falcon in Nueces County on March 17, 1876. Cesario and Rita had five children, Blas, Cesario, Fidel and Jacoba and Rita. Captain Cesario died in 1887 and is buried with a military headstone for his service in the Civil War at Holy Cross Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
